Former Kiwi Cricketer is now on the radar of the USA cricket team’s available players. ESPN Cricinfo, today, reported the list of players including Corey Anderson, who are being attempted to recruit by USA cricket.
Corey’s fiancée is from Texas, USA, where Corey has spent most of his pandemic making him a potential recruitment. Corey Anderson’s last game for the blackcaps was two years back in November of 2018. Corey has not been part of Auckland in the Plunket Shield nor the Ford Trophy at the start of the 2020-21 New Zealand domestic summer. According to rumors, he has been said to be been spotted over the northern summer at local cricket matches around Dallas.
USA cricket has been attempting to recruit players from big nations for the growth of cricket in the country. Cricinfo further on reported the attempts to recruit Pakistan national opener Sami Aslam.
Former Protea pacer Rusty Theron is already playing for USA in international matches since last year. Other South Africans Dane Piedt and Simon Harmer also have been rumored to be play for USA.
Cameron Gannon, Cameron Stevenson and Ian Holland, the Australian trio also debuted for USA last year. World Cup winner for England, Liam Plunket also has been highly rumored to be a part of USA cricket team in future.
At the moment, Steven Taylor, native of Florida is the only player who has come up through the USA U-19 system , of those who are regularly playing for the USA national team. While the cricket body in the country is claiming this being done to improve cricket in the country, the youngsters will be finding more difficult to make it to the higher level through the natural selection pathway.
