Nepali national cricket team’s opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel has been nominated for the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Player of the Month award. The ICC has nominated Kushal and two Pakistani players, Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, for the April Player of the Month nomination.
Kushal was the top scorer with 278 runs with an average of 69.50 when Nepal won the title in the triangular T20 series held at TU ground from 4 to 11 April in Kathmandu. He hit a half-century against the Netherlands in his T20I debut and set a world record by hitting three consecutive fifties. He hit four fifties in the series and became the Player of the Series.
Based on his performance in the series, Kushal was ranked 93rd in the ICC T20 rankings for the first time. Since then, he has risen to the 61st position in the updated rankings. The nominated candidates will be able to vote. To vote for him, go to the ICC website and register your name and email.
