Table Topper CSK GOT STUNNED AS RUTURAJ’S CENTURY WENT IN VAIN

The Rajasthan Royals have sealed their fifth victory in the 2021 IPL after thrashing the Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets in Abu Dhabi! The Royals won the toss and elected to have a bowl first in this contest, a decision which appeared to have paid off quite brilliantly during the opening exchanges as wily leg spinner Rahul Tewatia (3/39) dismissed CSK’s dangerous top order duo of Faf du Plessis (25) and Suresh Raina (3) within the first 9 overs of the match to leave the men in yellow floundering on an uncharacteristically lacklustre score of 57/2. After this somewhat shaky start however, the remainder of this first innings in Abu Dhabi belonged well and truly to the scintillating Super Kings as imperious opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad (101*) combined magnificently with the likes of Moeen Ali (21) and Ravi Jadeja (32*) and unleashed a seemingly endless barrage of powerfully struck fours and disdainfully-dispatched sixes to each and every corner of Sheikh Zayed Stadium to ultimately take the men in yellow up to a seemingly commanding total of 189/4 by the end of their 20 overs.

In response to this excellent batting display from CSK, Rajasthan got off to an absolutely barnstorming start to their run chase as the destructive opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal (50) and Evin Lewis (27) took the attack to the Super Kings bowlers in devastating fashion right from ball one and produced a truly sensational 77 run partnership together from first 30 balls of the innings to rapidly propel the men in pink up to a promising score of 77/0 in the 5th over of their innings. However, as soon as the  latter was dismissed by seamer Shardul Thakur (2/30) at the start of the very next over, the Royals’ run chase began to buckle slightly as the destructive Jaiswal was sent back to the pavilion by fiery seamer KM Asif (1/18) just 5 balls later to leave the men from Jaipur wobbling on a somewhat more perilous score of 81/2 in the 7th over of their innings. After this brief collapse though, the remainder of this run chase belonged to the hard-hitting Shivam Dube and the resurgent Royals as the classy number 4 batsman applied himself expertly and blasted a truly exceptional 64* from 42 balls alongside the likes of Sanju Samson (28) and Glenn Phillips (14*) to take the mighty men in pink to a comprehensive 7 wicket victory with 15 balls of their innings still to spare. As always, well played to both sides out there today and congratulations to the Royals for sealing their 5th victory in the 2021 IPL .
