Zampa hit with BBL suspension for obscenity

In a statement on Thursday, Cricket Australia confirmed Zampa had been suspended for one BBL match after accepting a charge for an “audible obscenity” during his side’s 75-runs loss to the Sydney Thunder on Tuesday, in which Zampa took 3-49 before making 23 runs with the bat.
At the end of the 16th over of the Thunder’s innings, gun batsman Callum Ferguson cut a short and wide delivery from Zampa to deep cover for a single. As the Thunder batsmen jogged between the wickets, Zampa, who’d just seen a teammate’s misfield cost the Star four runs the ball before, appeared to utter “f*** me”.

CA said Zampa had accepted a penalty of one suspension point and a $2500 fine after being found guilty of a Level 1 offence under the organisation’s Code of Conduct.

It means Zampa will miss the Stars’ next BBL clash, which is against the Hobart Hurricanes on January 2.
